Not So Ancient Aliens
This piece was done for the 2026 Ancient Aliens gala at the Delaplaine arts Center in Frederick, Maryland. It will be auctioned off in late September along with other donated pieces. It was intended to mimic an Aztec carving of an ancient alien visit that you might see in one of those “chariots of the Gods?” speculation shows, with a lot of symbols that could mean just about anything. It even has a shallow part on top that looks like a sacrifice was burned and dripped down to a collector now long gone. I put in a number of “symbols”, some modern, some not, all left open to interpretation of the viewer. One friend said that it looked like a mother with two breasts with a baby inside her- did not see that one coming so I can definitely say that was not the original intent… or was it?…. But you might find a rocket, or a coffee mug, or maybe even a phone. Or is it a flaming vase, a sacrifice, and box with a bird? An octopus person? You tell me. That’s the fun of art- I know what I had in mind, but who knows how you interpret it?
