XXXI. Blue Jay

It’s been a while since I made some small stuff, and now here you go, a blue jay on a log. Simple huh? Well, it’s a heart breaker- or should I say a “tail breaker” because that’s what happened. When I put the stone into my vice I didn’t realize that the tail was in the vice and not the log and… well. But thanks to Gorilla Glue the tail is back. But because this results in a noticeable line where the crack was, I left the surface rough and unfinished- and it gives it an interesting look especially since the log was to be rough as well. But when it gets wet and the stone darkens, it’s pretty obvious, so I don’t know that this one will be making it to the streets. And here I thought it was the beak that was going to snap off.

Approximately 5”D X 4”W X 7”H. 3 out of 5 because of the repair.
