The Sky Is (Not) Falling!

“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” The immortal words of Chicken Little (or in Europe and the rest of the world, the words of Henny Penny- they know not Chicken Little. Fact!) In a 2024 interview with Charlie Rose, Ken Burns, the documentary guy, when asked if he thought the country was in a particularly bad way as it seemed like the sky was falling, Ken Burns replied in effect that the sky has ALWAYS been falling in American history. The revolution was by no means a unanimous choice of the colonists, the fight over slavery and slavery expansion, that whole civil war thing, should black people vote, should women vote, should we get involved with that European war, should we ban alcohol, should we unban alcohol, what, another European war?, civil rights, Vietnam, Coke or Pepsi? The lists goes on, just ask Billy Joel. Is the sky falling? Brother, it has always been falling- and yet here we are still. And just remember, in the original story of Chicken Little, the only one to keep his head was Mr. Fox, manipulates them into his den to keep them safe and then kills and eats them all. Wow, that went dark fast, didn’t it? But the moral of the story is clear- stop freakin’ out!
